Tidehold Empire
★★★★☆ 4.3
Tidehold Empire has a clever hook: your city sits on a shore where the tide rises and falls, so half your buildable land vanishes twice a day. That single mechanic makes you plan zoning far more carefully than in a normal builder. Docks become the heart of everything.
The strategy layer is trade-focused rather than combat-heavy. You set up shipping routes, balance food against materials, and fend off the occasional storm. It's turn-adjacent but plays in real time, and you can pause anytime. On a phone that flexibility is a blessing.
I'd have liked more late-game threats to keep tension up, but the economic puzzle alone kept me building for a solid week. Great for players who like spreadsheets disguised as fun.
What we liked
- A tide mechanic that reshapes your planning
- Trade-driven economy over constant war
